About my practice
I aspire to use art and design as a tool to bring about social change.
As someone who has always been a deeply sensitive person, empathy is at the core of all of the work I do, although my range of interests and areas of practice are quite diverse. My schooling in disciplines such as psychology, sociology, art and literature have fundamentally shaped the way I view the world. I always have a strong desire to engage with people and places to extract meaningful visual narratives.
My frequent visits as a child to my hometown, Ooty (in the Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu), have also had a profound impact on me - the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve being one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in India. I’m therefore keenly interested in working on projects involving conservation, biodiversity and ecology.
I believe that the key to facilitating social impact is to raise better humans, and the role of quality education in bringing about this change cannot be emphasised enough. This is why I hope to develop an art and design practice at the intersection of research, education, and visual storytelling.
